Description:
Grape Vine / Grape Wood
Grape Vine is a naturally sculpted driftwood known for its dramatic twists, curves, and knotted details that bring depth and personality to planted aquariums. Often selected as a substitute for Manzanita, it’s also popular in decorative applications and works exceptionally well as a standout centerpiece. Compared to Malaysian or Spider Wood, Grape Wood offers a lighter, more intricate appearance that adds contrast and dimension to an aquascape. Its pale tones may gradually deepen once submerged, enhancing its natural character.
This 100% natural wood is equally at home in terrariums and paludariums, where it complements mosses, epiphytes, and emergent plants beautifully. Due to its structure, Grape Wood can take an extended period to become fully waterlogged. Pre-soaking is strongly recommended, and additional anchoring—such as stones or supports—may be necessary to keep it securely positioned. Like most driftwood, it will release tannins that can lightly tint the water; consistent maintenance and water changes will reduce this effect over time.
Over time, you may notice a harmless white biofilm forming on the surface. This is a normal occurrence with natural wood and can be easily siphoned away or gently brushed off. It poses no risk to aquarium livestock.
