Cholla Wood
Cholla Driftwood is the naturally dried skeleton of the Cholla cactus and is especially popular in shrimp aquariums. Its hollow, porous structure creates ideal hiding spots for shrimp while encouraging biofilm growth—an important natural food source for shrimp and fry. It also serves as a great base for attaching mosses, Marimo balls, Bucephalandra, Anubias, and other aquatic plants, helping you create the look of a natural, submerged log.
As with most natural driftwood, Cholla may release tannins that can lightly tint the water yellow or brown. This is harmless and will gradually diminish over time. Boiling the wood beforehand can help reduce initial tannin release.
