The Stepdown features allows you to connect a 3/4" or a 1" hose to it. If you use a 1" hose it is recommended to cut off the 3/4" level so the flow is not restricted.
This adapter is standard 1" FPT thread and comes with a rubber gasket for sealing so it can be used for other 1" MPT fittings
